Vacuum Packaging Machines for Business

In the past, only the major fruit and vegetable exporters have the access to vacuum packaging machines. However, because of the recession, prices of these machines fell dramatically, making them far more accessible and affordable to smaller businesses. The problem, however, with these businesses is that they are not used to maintain and keep these machines. Keep in mind that if these machines are not maintained to a good standard, they are most likely to go wrong and you will be spending on repairs. The main areas to monitor include the seals and the heating strip.

The Seals

The entire process of vacuum packaging greatly depends upon the quality of the seals used. Otherwise, it will not be good to use anymore. When the bag is fastened to the machine, the entire area around it must be sealed to create a vacuum.  Then, all the air is sucked out, which is why it is called vacuum. Eventually, after many uses, the seals have a tendency to wear out and lose its ability to create a seal.

Heating Strip

The heating strip is another important part of the machine. You’ll often find the strip covered with Teflon. This covering prevents the strip from sticking to the bag. The Teflon can last for several years, depending on the usage and maintenance, but a qualified technician can easily replace it if the need arises. You will know that it is time to replace it when the strip starts to stick to the bags.
